John “JB” Barnes is the founder of Pro Baller Fitness. He is a certified Speed Agility Coach, Personal Trainer, Youth Fitness Trainer, Sports Specific Trainer, High School football Coach and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. He has over 13 years of football experience as a player and is a positive mentor to all young athletes that cross his path.

He is currently a NIKE Product Tester that tests unreleased products to help NIKE continue to make top quality products.

Summer of 2018, JB Barnes founded Pro Baller 7v7 Team. This 7on7 football program will focus on:  high school players to compete at a high level, better their overall football skills, timing, and get on the same page with other players on this team in a fun, and exciting way. They will be taught leadership skills, shown how to study and break down film and they will receive speed and agility training while participating in this program.

Another reason for coaching young men on this team is for them to take College football techniques back to their prospective High School football programs, so that they will perform at a high level during their football seasons.

Winter of 2017-2018 7on7 football season, Coach Barnes was the Franchise owner, Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the Portland Panthers football team.

In the Winter of  2017, Coach Barnes was named the Head Coach, Head Strength Coach and Defensive Coordinator of the Portland Adidas FSP 7on7 Travel Team.

In the summer of 2017, 2016, and 2015, Coach JB Barnes coached the defensive backs at the Nike Regional Combines in Eugene, OR(2015) and Seattle Seahawks practice facility(2016). He did such a great job in Eugene, that he was asked to come back as a volunteer coach at the Final Nike Opening Combine held at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton July 6-10th. Barnes trains athletes starting from NFL players, NBA players, CFL players, track athletes, and college athletes including the Oregon Ducks. Former Oregon Ducks Defensive Backs Coach, John Neal, is Barnes’ coaching mentor.

He started at weak side linebacker where he was All-Conference at Watson Chapel High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. In 1995-96, JB was a big factor in being the State Runner-Up, but in 1996-97 he and his phenomenal teammates won the 3A State Championship.

He played college football and started four years as a strong/free safety at The University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff.

He played defensive back in the AFL, CFL and NFL for teams: Grand Rapids Rampage, Carolina Cobras, New York Dragons, Georgia Force, Hamilton Tiger Cats, and mini-camp invitation to the Kansas City Chiefs.

He specializes in Defensive positions but knows the game and has the knowledge to coach any position. He is personally mentored by former NFL players such as Curtis Fuller, Kenny Wheaton and Anthony Dorsett.

During the football off-season between 2002-2004, JB and former Oregon Ducks Hall of Famer, Kenny “The Pick” Wheaton, specialized in speed+agility training together under speed coach Russell ”Fly” Flannigan with the On Your Mark training program in Dallas, Texas. They are looking to collaborate together to help advance young men strength, speed+agility and football training skills in Oregon.

He has also trained and worked with several NFL players: Akili Smith, Donte Wesley, Greg Wesley, Anthony Dorsett, Ray Crockett, Ray Mickens, Curtis Fuller, Darren Gordon and many more.
